Hysteria

PROJECTS

Hysteria unsettles the tidy order of home and narrow definitions of femininity, unraveling into a visceral, creaturely chaos. This dance-theatre installation work interrogates gendered energy, female agency, and the domestic gaze. Created by choreographer Angie Diaz and visual artist Alysha Fewster, and featuring Jasmin Sheppard and Maddison Fraser, Hysteria spirals between states of frivolity and violence, exploring the absurdity of the feminine condition construed through a patriarchal lens.

Night-time is coming, Balete will wake.

Old Ones are walking

Spirits are talking

A tightrope walker in a green outfit balancing on a rope during a performance, with ropes and stage equipment visible, against a dark background with colorful lights and patterns.
A performer crawling on a platform suspended by ropes against a backdrop of a forest scene.

There are older things living, deep in this jungle…..

A young woman with long dark hair wearing a white sports bra and loose white pants standing in a dimly lit room with ropes hanging from the ceiling.

Older things living, within this old tree…
